A 12-year-old Bolton tennis player has been offered a place on the GB training camp following her national success. Daisy Wootton first picked up a tennis racket at Bolton Arena when she was 4 years old and has since gone on to achieve several national titles. Due to her determination and passion, she is currently the under 12 National Indoor Tennis Champion, under 12 National Doubles Tennis Champion and 5th place nationally in the under 12 category. And she now has the chance to train at Great Britain’s Training Camp. Read more: Bolton School welcomes back Roger Draper – former CEO of Sport England Daisy’s mum, Carrie Wootton said: “She’s gone from strength to strength, she’s a fighter and they really see that at the arena, they love her hard-working attitude. “She’s done all of this herself and we’re so proud of her, she’s such a good kid.” Daisy currently trains at one of the 12 national Regional Player Development Centres (RPDC) at Bolton Arena. The coaching team at Bolton Arena provide Daisy with all the tools she needs to progress in the sport, but her work ethic and determination to learn is what’s allowed her to gain national recognition. Bolton Arena RPDC Head Coach, Sabrina Federici, said: “Since Daisy has been training at the RPDC she’s thrived, her work ethic has really shone through. “She recently won her first national event; she’s putting so much hard work on and off the court she’s very modest and humble.” Bolton Arena where Daisy trains (Image: Newsquest) Daisy is now currently gearing up to attend the GB training camp this month. Spaces on this camp are reserved for Britain’s aspiring pro players, and only juniors with the highest potential are selected. Carrie added: “She loves the fight, and she loves competing, I’m confident she’ll make a really good impression. “This could potentially lead to her being part of team GB, she’s so excited.” Daisy started her tennis career at Bolton Arena’s ‘Mini Tennis Tots’ sessions and she continues to be a pioneer for the leisure trusts healthy message.
